DEKRA iST, Automotive Electronics Verification Lab, (4/9) announced that it has assisted the LED company, Jufei Optoelectronics, and successfully passed the AEC-Q102 Reliability verification, which released by AEC(Automotive Electronics Council) in 2017, after four-monthly stringent tests. Jufei Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. is also one of the first companies to pass the AEC-Q102 specification.
AEC officially released the AEC-Q102 REV standard in March 2017. This specification is mainly referred standard for discrete optoelectronic components, which would like to enter the automotive market and it is also the latest international standard for automotive LEDs. AEC-Q102 redefined couple of testing items, include sample size decreased, the methodology of LED Tj (Junction Temperature) controlling, and increasing gas corrosion, and each request is designed for LED used during real automotive environment in order to secure the of safety of driving.
DEKRA iST observed that LED light source is more and more widely used in automotive application, such as car lamp, smart infotainment system and blind spot sensors, and high reliable LEDs are necessary. Most of LED manufactures would like to enter this automotive market and develop aggressively their products. However, the question is how to make sure their LED components reliable? Pass the AEC-Q102 verification would be the first step to verify the reliability.
Dr. Zhang Zhikuan, Director of RD center in Jufei Optoelectronics, said that 3528 product successfully passed the 24 critical test items required by AEC-Q102 and the LED could be normal operating a -40°C to 125°C environment. It also demonstrated that the product under the complete AEC test program, can withstand the high temperature, gas corrosion/migration, etc.
Mr. Hsu WenChi, Director of Sales Div. in DEKRA iST, pointed out that the safety concern of automotive electronics is getting higher and higher, and automotive lighting is included. During the real environment of automotive, automotive lighting operation will be influenced by rain, exhaust, acid rain, vibration, shock, power instability and other factors. AEC-Q102 is more comprehensive and closer than AEC-Q101 for LED component, such as the hydrogen sulfide test (H2S) and pulse life Test (PLT) are added, and those items can ensure high reliability LEDs in real environment.
